Earliest meeting: Tuesday 21st September 1802
Final meeting: Wednesday 22nd September 1819
The village of Kingscote in Gloucestershire lies some 4 miles west of Tetbury and first held races in 1802. Kingscote Manor, within Kingscote Park, was the Kingscote’s family home for over 800 years and the setting for race meetings for almost 20 years. The inaugural 4 day meeting stretched from Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th September 1802 and opened with the 50 Guineas Purse won by Colonel Kingscote’s Chuckle. The feature race each year was the Gold Cup which was won in 1803 by Apollo, owned by Mr Douglas, and he captured the Cup again in 1806 when Timekeeper defeated Tancred. Each year there was an Ordinary served for Kingscote Club members and a Ball held at the Hunter’s Hall. Races continued annually until a final meeting took place on Wednesday 22nd September 1819.

This racecourse is covered in Volume 1 of Racecourses Here Today and Gone Tomorrow. Ordering details shown below.
